Chinese Courtyard Ramp
Stone Repair and Restoration for Historic Granite
Historic Granite Repair and Restoration to Original Condition
Our goal for registered historic landmarks is to return natural material back, or as close as possible to its original condition. For every project, stone restoration services vary to meet the need. Our services are provided by licensed stone repair contractors (professionally known as masons) with extensive stone repair and restoration experience in Honolulu. As with many projects, our services for the entrance to the Chinese Courtyard ultimately resulted in restoration of the original granite and client was satisfied with quality of the project.
This historic stone repair project included a creating a ramp to meet ADA standards without sacrificing the integrity of historic materials and design. Many decades ago, a wooden ramp was installed over the original granite. The wooden ramp was removed and the original granite was uncovered. The natural granite was also removed to create a slope for the ramp. The granite was installed on top of the slope. Additional granite material was added to build out the ramp to ADA requirements.
